However, the rain did cause some issues with the organisers’ plans.

Mr Chisnall added: “The rain did put a few down plans for rides and attractions, with the mud and different issues however in the end people did not seem put off with this.”

As reported in the Everning telegrath in peterborough

http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/et-business/business-news/firework-fiesta-rival-plans-huge-pyro-show-1-3624622#.T2Gm2wwi83s.facebook

A fireworks firm in Peterborough has vowed to “raise the bar” at the spectacular show it is planning to rival the recently revived Firework Fiesta.

The ET reported on Monday that the city’s Firework Fiesta show is set to be revived this year and held at the East of England Showground on November 3.

But now bosses at PDC Fireworks, who have been organising a display at Bretton Rugby Club for the past two years, have pencilled in their show for November 2 – and are promising to give people a better experience.

Paul Chisnall, the manager of PDC Fireworks, said: “Our aim is to put on a show the likes of which people have never seen before.

“The Fireworks Fiesta spends lots of money on lots of fireworks but their display is simply fireworks and one going on after the other.

“I think that some people will get bored of this.

“We will be holding Peterborough’s first ever multimedia pyro-musical fireworks display.

“This means that fireworks are set off to music and done in time to a beat.

“This year we will be raising the bar and using a range of special effects including a giant video projection.

“We will also have a flame throwing machine which will shoot flames 15-metres high.

“What we are aiming to do is give people a lot more entertainment.”

Mr Chisnall added that he hoped the event would continue to attract a growing number of spectators.

He said: “We’ve been holding the display at the rugby club for the past two years and the first time we held it 500 people turned up.

“The next year the crowd was around 2,000 and last year a massive 5,000 people turned up to watch.

“We are not trying to compete with the Firework Fiesta or say to people don’t go to that show – we just want to give people something different.

“We’re a local company and we’re doing this for Peterborough.”

Colin Harrison, president of the Rotary Club of Peterborough, which is co-organiser of Firework Fiesta, said their event was a “different ball game” to the PDC event.

He said: “Their show has been running for a few years while the fiesta has been going for 36 years, minus last year of course.

“We are going to have more attractions at this year’s display, and we are in the early stages of booking these.

“We are currently part way through booking a headline stage act to perform on the night. But as usual the display will be a real family night out.”

A preview of PDC display will soon be online at www.pdcfireworks.co.uk.

Fog, not smoke from a firework show, is believed to be responsible for the horror M5 smash in November within which seven individuals died.

That’s the findings of a painstaking probe by scientists who recreated the conditions on the night of the crash in an aircraft hangar.

They believe a driver braking suddenly as he or she hit a dense bank of fog is that the possibly reason for the 35-vehicle pile-up.

Meteorologists, pyrotechnic consultants and crash scene investigators worked on the scaled-down reconstruction. Fog was created over water doubling up because the River Frome by the M5 and smoke generated to represent the firework show at nearby Taunton Rugby Club.

The team discovered that a south- easterly wind blowing on November four would have blown the smoke from the show aloof from the crash web site – clearing the fireworks show organisers of any blame.

Immediately once the crash, Avon and Somerset Assistant Chief Constable Anthony Bangham, claimed it absolutely was a criminal investigation. The finger of suspicion was pointed at the rugby club and Geoff Counsell, boss of Firestorm Pyrotechnics, whose event had finished minutes before the crash.

Lawyers representing the club and Mr Counsell are still considering whether or not to require legal action or build a politician grievance against him.

A supply near the probe said: “It’s been an incredibly, advanced inquiry. And it’s still laborious to be completely categoric regarding what happened.”

Instead, the most thrust of the inquiry has checked out the possibility that a driver, presumably joining the motorway at junction twenty five, was the catalyst for the crash.

A lorry at the front of the pile-up owned by J.B.Wheaton and Sons of Chard, Somerset, had harm to the front offside bumper, in keeping with some kind of minor collision. An Iceland truck straddled the center and outdoors lanes and a TNT lorry jack-knifed.

More and a lot of vehicles ploughed into the wreckage, some bursting into flames. Terry Brice, Kye Thomas, Michael and Maggie Barton, Anthony and Pamela Adams and Malcolm Beacham all died.

Police can pass their file on the crash to the Crown Prosecution Service within the next fortnight and a final decision on whether or not there’ll be any charges is likely by the tip of could.

Coroner Michael Rose opened the inquest into the deaths in November last year however victims’ families are told a full hearing can be heard by September, therefore a criminal case is unlikely.

Avon and Somerset Police said: “All contributory factors are being investigated to spot what will be done to forestall similar incidents within the future. At this stage it’s troublesome to mention when the findings are created public.”

Paramedics initially reported that the person had burns over ninety % of his body. Two others had non-life threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to a neighborhood hospital, said Capt. Ralph Brown of the Jefferson County sheriff’s workplace.

Several deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department are on the scene, and therefore the state hearth marshal’s workplace has been notified. Brown said investigators with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are leading the probe.

Details regarding what caused the explosion weren’t immediately out there. Trista Frederick, a spokeswoman with the ATF in Kansas town, said shortly before noon these days that she had not however been briefed by investigators on the positioning regarding what led to the explosion. The ATF investigates any time explosives are concerned.

The most severely injured man is thirty three years old; the opposite 2 men are twenty two and twenty three, Brown said.

Terry Soer, chief of the Cedar Hill hearth Protection District, said his crews were the primary firefighters to induce to the plant. They arrived in six to eight minutes, he said, and therefore the hearth had already been place out. He said the fireplace was contained to a 15-foot sq. building product of concrete and wood. it’s one amongst many buildings on the property.

Two employees at the scean, who declined to be identified, said they were functioning at a unique a part of the sprawling plant when the explosion happened. when the explosion, they saw all 3 of the victims disoriented however walking and talking. They said there have been no signs from the outside of the building that there had been a flash explosion within.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration sent a compliance officer from its St. Louis workplace to research this morning’s fireworks explosion. in step with OSHA’s web site, international Pyrotechnic Solutions hasn’t been cited for any workplace violations. However, the corporate has ties to Sunset Fireworks and Pyro product Inc.

OSHA cited Pyro product for allegedly violating four safety rules resulting in an explosion that injured 3 ladies at the Grubville plant in June 2001. That blast marked the third accident at the plant in but 3 years. Explosions in 1999 and 2000 killed 2 ladies and injured 2 others. Pyro product negotiated settlements with OSHA for those 2 fatal incidents.

Global was incorporated in 2003, and a few of its founders have ties to Pyro product and Sunset Fireworks.

Members of the Lions of Woodley & Earley say they require to raise £12,000 in sponsorship or they won’t be able to hold the annual charity firework event, held every November, in Laurel Park later this year due to rising costs.

The largest event of the year in Lower Earley is in danger of fizzling out if funding cannot be found for the popular firework display to continue.

Last year the fund raising event, which supports a variety of local charities & community groups & has been going for 30 years, was attended by about three,500 people, with an estimated one,500 watching from Rushey Way, blocking the road & causing concern to police at the nearby Loddon Valley Police Station.

They blame an increase in the cost of fireworks, fencing & equipment to stage the display, the cost of meeting increasing legislation & regulation & the bill of controlling residents who try to watch free from various spots outside the park.

Mike Tarling, co-ordinator of the event, said: I think it will be a great loss to local residents.

Past president of the club, Alan Jutson said: Essentially our fireworks display is being put at jeopardy because of increasing costs, the new cost is do with individuals who are trying to watch the event free & costing us more. We are looking to find someone to sponsor the event & we are happy to give them as much publicity as feasible.

We provide them with a high impact display to music, it amazing value for money & it is local for the people of Lower Earley to come to. Its on the doorstep.

We have our regular yearly supporters 3500 of them.

The Lions Club is doing its very, very best to jump through the hurdles that are being introduced to us because the last thing they wish is for the event to be cancelled because of the loss to the community but, more importantly, the groups, charities & community work they donate to.

The group would like to listen to from someone who can offer sponsorship by the finish of March.

Businesses or groups will appear on all marketing & have their name in fireworks at the finish of the show. Call 08458 339 863

As smoke billowed from the back of the truck, Rutledge asked incredulously, “I’m on fire?” and then pulled over to check the situation.

When he opened the door, the load was caught alight and it was like July The Fourth as the fireworks exploded out of the back of the truck. even worse then set the nearby cornfield on fire.

Armed only with teeny tiny fire extinguishers, the “Top Gear” gang weren’t up to the task of putting out the blaze, so the local firefighters had to do it for them.

Watch more testosterone-fuelled mayhem on “Top Gear,” Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on History. To see how Jeremy Clarkson and the British petrol-heads do “Top Gear” head over to BBC America (check listings).

though at lot of people saw the funny side, quite a few people saw this as reckless and gives more fire power to people trying to ban them in the UK.
